HECM Advisor Program Update
If you are a non-FHA mortgage broker who has been participating in the HECM program as a HECM Advisor, you will no longer be allowed to do ANYTHING regarding HECM's.
We recommend you take one of these steps to protect your interests as a reverse mortgage originator.
1. Immediately apply to become an FHA Correspondent. The process takes about 90 days, so start immediately. Click here to see the procedure to apply for approval with HUD.
2. Consider becoming an employee of an FHA approved correspondent. You may only work for one mortgagee and there are certain rules you must comply with. Check with HUD Handbook 4060.1; here's the link.
